Narrative
A group of rabies survivors live on a small island. When one member of the group leaves the island on a mission to the mainland, he discovers the secrets, wonders and horrors that have transformed not only the infected, but the other survivors as well. The banner is a distinctive recording of the poem ‘Boots’ by Rudyard Kipling, read by actor Taylor Holmes in 1915. The repetitive rhythm of the poem imagines the marching of British soldiers during the Boer War, and this recording of the poem is used by the US military to simulate the psychological suffering of being held captive.
